Not Forgetting the Whale by John Ironmonger

Published by W and N for £8.99

The body of a young man, naked and barely alive, is washed up on a remote beach in Cornwall.  Shortly afterwards, a whale beaches in the same spot.  These incidents set in train a sequence of events which the population of the small village of St Piran could hardly have anticipated.  Joe Haak is a city analyst, fleeing from the horror of a major crash which his own system has predicted.  None of this makes any sense to the villagers, but when fuel and foods begin to run out, Joe feels resposible for the survival of his rescuers.  Told with humour and compassion, this is a hugely enjoyable tale which may just change your outlook on things we take for granted.
