The Green Road by Anne Enright

Published by Vintage for £8.99

The four children of manipulative matriach Rosaleen Madigan lead colourful and complicated lives.  The would be priest turned art lover and dilettante, the aid worker who can help others but not himself, the alcoholic with a tiny baby, the property developers wife awaiting a cancer diagnosis.  Shocked when their mother announces she will sell the family home, they return for a last Christmas.  An engrossing depiction of family, and the threads that bind them together, set in the west of Ireland and beautifullly written.
