Recently there has been much more discussion on how we must all be more open and accepting of mental illness. This memoir, written from the personal experience of a psychiatrist goes a long way towards achieving this. I would say we have all either had some experience of depression, or know someone who has, and this book should be illuminating to us all. The author has bravely put her experience out there; if nothing else, it shows that depression can happen to anyone, and with a combination of medication and talking therapy, can be managed. Depression does not have to be depressing.
